Air NZ baggage

Got a thing in the mail about the new baggage policy being introduced by Air New Zealand in 6 weeks. Instead of a total weight thing (what is it now? 20kg total or something?) they are going to use a piece system. One bag with a new weight threshold of 25kg is allowed and after that you have to pay for additional pieces, something like $15 for 2nd, $50 for 3rd, $150 for 4th etc. I guess they’re trying to limit everyone to just one bag. Interesting in this day and age of health and safety regulations that they would go for a heavier limit – god they’ll probably have to buy new harnesses for their baggage handlers so they don’t strain their backs and a bulk supply of those ‘heavy’ tickets they put on bags over 20kg currently. I was going to say that I think it’s just domestic flights but unless you live anywhere other than Auckland and want to go anywhere other than Australia or the islands directly, you’ll be taking 1 or 2 domestic flights to get to Auckland anyway!
