Trees still cosy

Out and about in the rain today – went by the trees in Cuba Street to see if the knitting is still there – it is! Bit soggy but every tree still has some knitted scarf on it.

Willis Street demo 3

Hairdresser gossip provides more information about the Willis/Boulcott St demolition … apparently big trucks came one night and took the apartments on stilts away to the Hutt somewhere. The way he tells it, all the furniture and chattels in the apartments were just shrink wrapped/tied down and each apartment was picked up as-lived-in and moved. I’m wondering how they got them onto the motorway from there though – there are tight bends and an underpass to get through … I guess they closed the roads and went the wrong way up the slip road to The Terrace.

17 storeys of Telecom ‘campus’ are going there it seems.

Sparrow fact

At Gotham this morning sparrows were hopping around the floor looking for crumbs. I was referring to them as he or she depending on which one hopped over really close. The Mister wanted to know if I was randomly calling them he and she. He didn’t know that sparrow fact! So I told him – boys have a black bib, girls have none. Now he’s wondering what *important* bit of information got bumped out of his brain so that that gem can reside there. Eyeroll.

GG bikkies

Finally. Someone we work with has girls old enough to be in Brownies and she’s selling Girl Guide biscuits from her desk! Saves The Mister having to search out little girls in uniform in the streets and us having to carry cash around every weekend just in case we see them.

Clap clap – bikkies should be here in 10 days or so!

Xero plant

Someone’s being fiddling with our ‘plant’ in reception … if you stare at it long enough the word XERO should materialise.

Graffiti

There’s lots of graffiti around at the moment. When I looked out the window this morning at breakfast time I saw new tags way up on the sides of buildings, reached by being on the roofs of lower buildings, and all over air conditioning ducts and units on top of the lower buildings.

Big pie

VERY impressed by the efforts of Short Dark Friend last night – she actually cooked something for our dinner last night – poor thing, we’re always teasing her that the lovely styley things in her kitchen are all form over function but her garlic press does actually work, so does her oven and she has an electric egg beater. Check out this fantastic first-time effort on a huge bacon & egg pie! YUM and thanks for having us over.

25 February 2004

5 years ago to the day since I helped carry my best friend to her final resting place. 5. Years. Without even consciously thinking about it I have fairly sad patches in January and February every year and this is why. I always thought it was NewYearitis but I think the vivid memories are the more likely culprit.

I miss you Leeann.

Typing mood

Am in the mood for typing typing typing like the wind but when working on new features there’s lots of mouse clicking and taking pictures of screens.

Service car

Audi should drop you off at work in some car you might want to upgrade to, not an old model service car.
