After pretty much mastering the pinwheel variety, it was time for a little experimenting with wholemeal flour again for today’s batch. Definitely gives them an ‘earthy’ flavour, takes away some of the sweetness and I’m sure they were more filling. I think I prefer them with ordinary white flour.
March 8th, 2009 — Out and about, Urban family
Went for a last visit with the twins and family before they head down south and then back to the States. Caught up with them at QE2 park where the kids were riding ponies and we all went for a ride on the ancient old tram down to the seaside and back. Picked up a Havanna coffee at Paekak Cafe on the way out – was pretty good compared to last time I got coffee there when they were using some vacuum packed beans imported from Europe.

Last of the summer pesto last night – our basil crop was looking decided less leafy and green for it’s second growth so we made a batch of pesto and blobbed it atop a veggie stack. Was delicious!
