CanNOT believe we are going to New York again so soon!!! This time it’s an almost work trip – Xero’s won a very prestigious Webby Award (often explained as the ‘Oscars of the Internet’) and being New York freaks we put our hands up to go to the gala award ceremony. I think there are a couple of other NZ company winners as well in this international event – it’s a pretty big deal! It’ll only be for a few days and I have got a mountain of work to do before we leave. I feel half excited, half petrified – unexpected spending in the thousands is not part of my personal brand! However it’s going to be amazing to be there when it’s not raining and freezing cold and this time we’re looking to stay lower down the island nearer the Chelsea/Soho area as the awards are on at a venue in Wall Street. Not sure whether we’ll actually get to go up on stage to accept the award, according to the programme every thank you speech is recorded for You Tube and some get chosen to be given on stage. There are loads of categories so that’s a lot of people to get up on stage. Xero won in the Banking/Bill Paying category. The Webby Awards are famous for their 5-word-only acceptance speech rule so everyone at work is already trying to come up with 5 words that will make the glamorous crowd remember us or Xero. Apparently Stephen Colbert’s speech last year as the Person of the Year was “Me me me me me”! Yes it was all about him! It’s a pretty star-studded event with some Hollywood and Internet-ites (like the founder of Twitter) in attendance.

So in a month exactly we’ll be in our posh best rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of the internet world, spreading the Xero word in New York!
