Corn fritters

Look Dean & Steph – we made your fritters! They were good although definitely agree that Dean has the lightest touch with the batter. They were a tad doughy.

Sunday outing

After the Mister did a few hours at work this morning we went on a proper grown up Sunday outing. Went to Brother-in-Law’s for Sunday lunch. Hot lunch and pudding and all! It was great. Really great to catch up outside of an occasion, it wasn’t anyone’s birthday or anniversary or out of town relatives visiting. Just lunch. Oh and Nikau owner and family were there so that was a HUGE bonus! He even made the pudding – delicious lemon tart. Mmmmmmmm. Obviously we begged for Nikau news, especially with it being the 5th anniversary of my first date scone, and it seems that things are still on track for a re-opening in September after the building work on the City Gallery is complete. The cafe will remain reasonably unchanged seeing as the work doesn’t really impact their part of the building. We were talking about blogs and twitting and connections and it seems I’ve been pegged as a good resource for spreading the word – ‘PR’ so to speak – when they re-open. Feel very important and honoured!

So when I ask you to spread the word in a couple of months, please spread.

20 minute walk

Why is it so hard to find the time to go for a quick 20 minute walk? Even at the weekends? I suppose in 20 minutes there are many other things I could do – iron a few things, check the rounds of emails, Twitter accounts or general blog and site checking, clean the coffee machine, sort out the pile of bills, chip ice out of the freezer, get some baking in the oven, do blog post, sort out photos for my website etc etc etc! I guess the 20 minutes for a walk is me time and it so much easier to convince yourself that doing something else is more useful and beneficial to others. Must find 20 minutes to go for a walk! Sigh.
