July 25th, 2009 — Tech commentary
Aaaaaaand we’re back! Blog now brought to you by WordPress. Didn’t The Mister do well? Obviously looks a bit different and loads of things behind the scenes to make management better for me. For you, hopefully still much the same and all my old content, blog pics and categories are in tact. Mothers, making a comment should be easier – at the moment there’s no need for the secret code thing however if I get unsolicited comments we may have to put it back. At minimum, complete just your name and leave your comment. I think those of you that have a feed will have to use the RSS button on the right somewhere to get a new one.
For the moment the family website is gone and orangethings.com and orangethings.com/blog both go to the same place. All the family photos will come back eventually and as I don’t really want those public I’ll send a link when I know what’s going on.
Enjoy!

BLOG GOING OFFLINE:
———————–
Some time in the next week it’s highly likely that the Orange Blog and website will go offline as due to circumstances beyond my control involving the physical relocation of a server all my data and photos have to be moved somewhere else. Yikes!
But rest assured we are in the capable hands of The Mister and even though when everything turns back on it will undoubtedly look very different, he assures me that it will still be living at the same URL (web address). Bad news for the throngs of followers using the RSS feed, there’ll probably be a new feed URL … will let you know!
For daily addicts, if you’re following me on Twitter (twitter.com/orangegirlnz) you might get some warning.

Over & out.
Bye bye Das Blog (yes, am probably the last person on earth still using it).

Half the city went out for a nice walk today as it was a beautiful fine and calm day. It seemed to us that the Frank Kitts lagoon was almost overflowing – not sure why! The path in front of the museum was practically overcrowded!
And every year when I see the snow up the valley looking so beautiful over the harbour, I don’t know why I attempt a photo – you can never see the snow in the photo! But anyway, here’s this year’s photo of the beautiful snow … on the hills towards the left …

New sculpture in the neighbourhood. Watched it being unloaded off a truck in the moaning, shrouded at first. Looked like a dophin or a whale but hours later when it was uncovered and mounted onto the pole, and with the aid of the binoculars we figured out it was a star! But you can see why we thought it was a whale!

New signs appearing around Wellington with a bit of orange in them – seems Star Mart has been renamed or replaced.
July 17th, 2009 — Random thoughts, Work
Either some naughty person yanked this tiny tree out of a park somewhere and tossed it up onto the roof or it lives in/on that building and decided to leap off. A rather sad site out my office window.
July 16th, 2009 — Wannabe chef
Again The Mister experimented with dinner while I was at yoga. He had homemade baked beans in Gisborne and decided he wanted to have a go. They were fantastic!
He proudly rattled off the ingredients, which are pretty varied … apart from the beans there’s balsamic vinegar, pancetta, tomato paste, mustard, golden syrup(!), onions, garlic, brown sugar and beer!
July 15th, 2009 — Orange, Tech commentary, Work
Have to manage a few conversation threads at work now and so as to not get confused I found where to completely personalise my own Twitter account so that it looks totally different from the work one.
I have to say, that’s a LOT of orange! Hope it doesn’t scare people off!
July 15th, 2009 — Urban family
Poor SF friends – it’s getting hot over there and it’s not even the height of summer yet. Right now it’s 5pmish and they’ve got almost 38 degrees! And look at the forecast – nothing but sun!

Feel kind of stink but I’ve let myself get rather disgruntled with Fuel Willis Street since the latest barista changeover and twice in the last week have made the hike up to The Terrace to see my old barista. Got into a bit of a moan fest today so I hope the guys at Willis don’t get into too much trouble. Weeeeell, maybe at least just enough to realise that while it is a busy site that speed isn’t everything and if quality slips then there are several other coffee places close by could be tried out. Anyway, had a fantastic coffee at The Terrace Bar as I knew I would and was greeted like an old friend. As a 10-year customer I should think so!
