Went on my first coffee trip to a new place from the NY Times coffee list without the Mister while he was in California – Gimme Coffee. It was a tiny little place in Soho, with space for a few inside to order and wait for their drink and a small bench seat outside.
There were lots of cool people hanging about with their little dogs and bikes, drinking espresso in the lovely leafy street – a great vibe.
The coffee was nice – the milk a bit bubbly, not the best we’ve seen, and the first sip had an almost sticky burnt caramel to it – not bad, but a different sweet flavour than what we’ve experienced so far.
So I sat there on the side of the road, quite happy to have no friends, enjoying my morning coffee.

I remember Gimme coffee — they sell it at the place across from Amy’s Bread at Chelsea Markets, right?
Why yes it is! Not that we’ve ever been to that milk bar because we cannot resist 9th Street Espresso
