As we were at the other end of SOMA after attempting to get our Social Security numbers (too early, need to wait at least 10 days for immigration to flow through the government systems) we decided to try Sightglass.
Their roastery serves coffee – not to may sit down spots – rather lots of leaners and small bars around the warehouse, many around the roaster that was going when we were there – very cool to watch.
Not sure it’s at the top of my coffee list in San Francisco yet, it wasn’t particularly strong and creamy, and had a banana edge – I’m not really a fan of tasting fruit in coffee – however I know the berry flavours are revered by many, after all the coffee bean is a fruit I suppose so it’s understandable it’ll taste like fruit from time to time. I did enjoy the little peanut butter cookie filled with peanut butter cream though!

Update August 22nd: visited again today to recover from our second, more harrowing visit to get our social security numbers and had a much better cappuccino, nice flavour and a bit more ooomph – must’ve been different beans. Also appreciated the big basins, soap and paper towels after having sat in the Social Security office’s waiting room for an hour.
