June 6th, 2007 — Out and about, Work
We had a work function at the NZX last night (first day listed – v.exciting) and they have a proper commercial machine there … it was on … Jiff really wanted a coffee … the caterers didn’t know what do to. So I bowled on up to an NZX’er and asked if I could use the machine, assured him that I knew what I was doing, and with many an onlooker, produced a coffee that Jiff said was great (for those of you who know him, just imagine that rising excited accent of his and you’ll realise how great ‘great’ sounds when he enthusiastically says it!).

I was very proud – look at those smiles! 🙂

June 3rd, 2007 — Random thoughts, Work
Once upon a time the first thing I did when arriving at the cafe for our Saturday morning breakfast was to grab the ‘Indulgence’ section of the Saturday paper and go straight to the back to look at all the photos of the kitties and cast the rest of the paper aside. Then onto the toast with peanut butter and a latte. However with all the happenings at work now, we go in manner of grown-ups to the business section to share prices. The company is not listed yet but we’re learning and practicing where to look just in case! Then to the kitties.

February 20th, 2007 — Random thoughts, Work
I’m not sure whether I’m working too hard, or the most passionate employee one could hope for. It’s gotten to the point now where thoughts of work occupy my head at all times. Last night I dreamed (nightmared in some cases) about work: about a screen that had a pop-up on it that was there yesterday and behaving properly yet in my dream it kept sliding off the bottom of the screen before my eyes. And this morning over breakfast we discussed bank balances and reconciliation. Later in the shower instead of daydreaming about standing under a waterfall on a tropical island (is that what ’empty-headed’ people think about in the shower?) it struck me how in my user guide I can explain 2 different scenarios for doing the same thing.
I just wonder what other people’s heads are filled with … I suppose it’s a welcome break from thinking about household domestics or using up those airpoints before they expire, or making an appointment with the dental hygienist, mole mapper, insurance company, hairdresser, mother-in-law or something to make for dinner … I just hope all the help associated with our product reflects the 24/7 effort!

A van stuck in a car park entrance way …

… “Why don’t you try letting out the tyres or weighing down the back?” suggested a nice passer-by.

It worked. They’re in. Not quite sure how they’re going to get out!
