I wandered through the Jack Illot Green on the corner of Harris St and Customhouse Quay today, and along the little diagonal grass path. I remember when Circa Theatre was knocked down and before it was, it was cut in half and grass was planted up the ‘walls’ of the cut. It was *so* cool. It was absolutely surreal to walk through – very cool and quiet and very strange to reach out sideways and touch grass.
I wish they’d kept it there. It was done as a ‘site specific installation’ called ‘The Divide’ for the 1996 International Festival of the Arts.
