Went to a family wedding yesterday in Martinborough and I was thrilled to meet the resort’s cat! He was *very* smoochy and now that I see this photo quite co-ordinated with my hair and outift (Mother, note the DRESS (that’s not floor length) and poofy shoes that don’t need to be worn with socks!)

Monty hopped up on my knee for a big old cuddle and pat tonight. The Mister had to go hungry because I had to wait for Monty to get off my knee before I could get up to go home and make his dinner!

We’re looking after him for a few days again but this time we’re going to his house once a day. Last night he sat on my knee and smooched for a while. Today he was a bit skittery but I think it’s because the Mister came too and I think he associates males with play  time.

He’s still so lovely and soft and purrs all the time 🙂

Sunday surfin’ brought me to this incredible video on YouTube. This cat plays along with her owner and her piano students. It’s just amazing and worthy of lots of cat-voice coo’ing 🙂 (For those uninitiated on YouTube, in this particular instance you DO double-click on the arrow to watch the video. All those years of drumming in to you that you “only click ONCE on the internet“ is out the window in this case sorry!)

Saw these two in the window of a strange little shop off Cuba Street.

<cat voice> Ohhhhhhh, isn’t she adorrrrrable?</cat voice>. She’s a almost a Xero kitty – she belongs to the flat mate of a colleague in Auckland … can’t wait for my inaugural work trip up there!

Hmmm, not sure I’ve enjoyed the Grow Your Own kitty experiment – it was rather gut-wrenching watching the little fella peering out of a glass of water for the requisite 3 days – going through all sorts of stages of lumpy growths. I almost gave up after 2 days but a friend who I consider wise on all matters involving experiments and physics said to wait out the full 72 hours, that it would all be OK.

It’s not. The kitty is lumpy, has one side of his head bigger than the other, has some kind of growth out of his cheek and is definitely not 6 times his normal size. I hope the shrinking part of this experiment goes better – I guess I now have to wait another 3 days!
