July 20th, 2006 — Random thoughts, Work
It’s very cold today. Southerly sleeting showers and gale force winds are making it worse. There is ice in the rain that is piling up on the window ledge outside my 22nd floor window. Feels like the coldest day this winter to date.
Update:
Sleet is causing a build up of ice on the window sill!

… a bunch of old buses in Civic Square. Including one up on stilts. Despite the rain and cold they’re getting a fair bit of attention – must be the bus spotters out and about.

June 23rd, 2006 — Random thoughts, Work
Another week has flown by. It felt like a particularly tough one too.
- It’s so dark – being the week of the shortest day doesn’t help
- I’m so tired – the Mr has been coughing all night, every night
- I haven’t eaten my greens – it’s been a case of eating whatever’s in the fridge and cupboards
- I can’t get anything finished – I’m at that point in my new job where I am almost flying solo on some things but there’s always that last 10 – 20%
Never mind, day off tomorrow 🙂

… the horizon. Maintain eye contact with the horizon and you won’t get motion sick.
Yep – we’re swayin’ here. Big time. My pencil sharpener is dancing on the end of it’s rubber band. Every now and then there’s a big creak and immediately following it I feel a bit light-headed, or like an invisible hand is just pushing me ever so slightly sideways. The swaying is not having the nauseous effect on me that I thought it would. It’s actually making me very sleepy. The feeling I have is one of extreme tiredness, slight disorientation and a little off-balance. It is pretty much exactly like what jet lag does to me. I have that feeling like I’ve been on a plane for 2 days and I’m fighting off sleep. It is hard to concentrate on work, but I’d rather feel like this than nauseous.

Working in an office building above a food court means that lots of people go downstairs to get curry for lunch and bring it back to their desks. Gross. It stinks. I take my orange into the kitchen to peel it and eat it in there to stop the smell being around desks … do unto others and all that. It’s not working.
Oh, and when I’m in the kitchen I always have a little rant inside my head about what the world is coming to when there are big laminated signs all over everything warning about potential dangers that any person with 2 brain cells should know for themselves …
- Be careful: contents are hot – the Zip
- Careful: this gets hot – toasted sandwich maker
- Be alert: things might fall on your head – head-height shelves containing cereal, sugar, crackers, roll of handee towels
Oh oh, perhaps I could put a sign up in the office
- Did you know: curry smells!
